Sehar has been a fixture in the Montreal improv scene for over a decade, and was among the first few women of colour improvisors – and the first South-Asian improvisor – on Montreal stages for several years. She began improvising with Montreal Improv in 2010, training in long and short form improv, and is versed in several improvisational formats (Montage, Armando, Harold, Narrative, Freeform, Melodrama, Hip Hop, Solo).
Sehar was a member of Montreal Improv house teams, Night Bus (2013-2014, coached by Brent Skagford) and Helmüt (2014-2016, coached by Marc Rowland), as well as several independently formed troupes including the Uninvited Guests and Coffee Break. She was a core cast member of two improvised soap operas, As the Bagel Turns and Superhospital, as well as I Love Love, a format that focused on more dramatic improvisation. In addition to regularly performing in weekly competitive improv shows like Smackdown, Battle of the Improv Stars, Threepio and Friday Night’s Main Event, Sehar appeared in flagship productions independently produced by some of Montreal’s top performers (such as Mojo Comedy/Vance Gillis, Mile End Improv, Commotion Theatre, Brent Skagford, Marc Rowland, Vinny Francois, DJ Mausner, Kate Hammer and James McGee).
Sehar has performed improv in various local festivals (MPROV, Just For Laughs/OFF-JFL) as well as festivals in Toronto (The Big City Improv Festival), New York (The Del Close Marathon) and was a part of the International Ensemble at the Vancouver International Improv Festival (VIIF), three years in a row.
