STAND-UP

Sehar’s stand-up journey kicked off by accident (and she held the microphone incorrectly) back in March 2015. She was invited to host a major showcase, pre-dating the now well-known Ladyfest festival, Loud And Funny Femmes (LAFF), featuring an impressive lineup of female stand-up comedians in Montreal. All she had to do was introduce the acts and keep the audience engaged. But fun crowdwork and intros turned into extended improvised riffs between sets which had the crowd howling (and producers gently nudging her to keep-it-moving during the intermission).

It wasn’t till 2017 that Sehar officially took the plunge into standup at the Ladies & Gentlemen Show (produced by Chris Sandiford, Daniel Carin). She continued to take the mic at various local comedy lineups including There’s Something Funny Going On (by Emma Wilkie), The Early Show (Amanda McQueen), Crazy Bitches (Ellie MacDonald) and Ladyfest showcases. In 2018, she had the opportunity to open for Anishinaabe comedian, Ryan McMahon (at her alma mater, McGill), and Guy Montgomery (all the way from New Zealand!).

STORYTELLLNG

Sehar dipped her toes into storytelling at Confabulation, Montreal’s long-standing storytelling show, back in April 2015. She made multiple appearances on the show including the 2-minute-story editions during Montreal’s Nuit Blanche festival. One of these stories even earned her a few spots in “The Streetspeaks,” a VOX-pop show on MAtv produced by Paul Shore. In 2019, Sehar shared a funny story centred around the theme of Hair, which made it onto Confabulation’s podcast episode titled, “Bodies

Confabulation is a long-standing, all-true storytelling series founded and produced by Matt Goldberg, in Montreal and Victoria.
