  • As a professional facilitator and university instructor, I've spent a LOT of time in classrooms, workshops and training sessions. So my bar of what qualifies as a "good" instructor is set pretty high. From the first class, Sehar sailed right over my bar and proved herself to be an excellent instructor. I appreciated how she skillfully balanced welcoming and accepting each student's comfort level and experience with developing exercises that gently, but firmly pushed us towards an increased understanding and capacity for improvisation.

    Elizabeth Hunt, Alambic Design, Montreal

  • I’ve worked with Sehar many times as a co-creator and performer and I can say without exaggeration that they have been some of the most enjoyable, hilarious and professionally fulfilling experiences of my career.
Sehar approaches collaborative work with a glorious combination of confidence, professionalism, creativity and camaraderie. She is weird, original, brilliant, seasoned and innovative. It’s a rare gift in this profession have fun and get work done at the same time, but somehow Sehar manages to make it happen.
Sehar is an incredibly multifaceted performer and writer whose ability to wear so many hats is a testament to her many years of experience as an improviser. She brings her unique and vibrant energy to roles big and small, scripted or on the fly. In case I haven’t made it clear, I fucking love working with Sehar. You will, too!

    Ellie MacDonald, New Glasgow/Montreal

  • Sehar is an excellent improv teacher who seamlessly weaves the threads of creativity, laughter, and inclusivity into every lesson. She fosters a laid-back environment where every individual, regardless of their background or experience, feels valued, respected, and empowered. Whether you're a seasoned performer or stepping onto an improv class for the first time, Sehar will undoubtedly give you tips and tricks to improve your confidence and drop your shyness, all while laughing and connecting with others. It's lots of fun!

Mélodie Le Siège, Communications Manager, Montreal

  • Sehar gets it. Not only does she have that perfect timing, stage presence, and infectious energy, she also manages to improve the performances of whoever she's sharing the stage with. You learn a lot from watching her perform because she can always tap right into those hilarious or tragic truths of human nature and she never misses a beat. She clearly belongs on the stage as much as her students might miss her.

    Laura Black, Copywriter, LA/Mtl/Van

  • Sehar Manji has razor sharp instinct and mad skills as an instructor. She thoughtfully focuses and pushes her students to improve with concrete tools, while also instilling in them the confidence to trust themselves and their instincts. She builds a dedicated and inclusive community in her classes. During my time working with Sehar, I learned many concepts, and was able to put into practise these new skills in concentrated doses and meaningful classwork. It felt like every minute was focused with valuable learning and personal growth in developing my improv skills. Thanks Sehar!

    Cat Ratusny, Toronto

  • Sehar is an insightful, talented actor-improviser. What is unique about Sehar is her sensitivity and ability to guide her students in accessing and expressing their true feelings. For example, as improv coach, she led us through self-awareness exercises, tapping into our individual emotions. These exercises helped develop organic expression which is key when creating those great improv scenes!

    Gillian Rehbohm, Montreal

  • Sehar wasn't just an improv teacher, she was a pro at creating a safe space – both playful and challenging – where anyone could step in and shine. She built our improv foundations brick by brick, ensuring each skill we learned was sturdy enough to support the wildest, most hilarious scenes. Sehar never forgot the audience, encouraging us to think about what makes good scenes and why certain things are funny. She instilled in us an inclusive mindset, reminding us that the truest improv magic happens when everyone feels seen, heard, and valued on stage. Sehar has changed the way I approach the world and has given me a life-long hobby to enjoy with others.

    Zafarali Ahmed, San Francisco/Mtl

  • Sehar's class feels like a bootcamp where the drill sergeant can only make you giggle instead of doing pushups.
Safe space: Sehar's introductory course is an ideal place to start your improv journey; lots of laughs and absolutely no pressure make it an easy place for anyone to find their voice!
Foundations first: Sehar makes sure to help students find their own twist on improv, while staying true to the foundational blocks that can elevate any player: Novice to Advanced!
Quick wit: Sehar provides a friendly environment for learning. Her quick wit rubs off on students and makes any classroom a great place for laughter.

    Rodrigo Trigueros, Montreal

  • I'm not sure what my expectations were going into my first improv class, but what I do know is that I came out of that class looking forward to the next one. Our teacher Sehar was instantly able to make us feel comfortable, safe and at ease. You can tell she's passionate about what she does as she encourages her students to trust themselves fully, and embrace their weirdness in all of its glory. Sehar made me understand that improv is a lot more than just improv. It's about vulnerability, courage, confidence, playfulness and teamwork. It's learning to fully surrender to the moment as you leap into the unknown.

    Sun, Singer/Songwriter, Montreal

  • Sehar is an excellent improv teacher and improviser, providing a great balance of finely tuned instruction, incisive feedback, and positive reinforcement. She seems to know how to read each student individually, targeting their skills and challenges accordingly. Improv is hard, but Sehar makes the process accessible and very rewarding!

    David Szantos, Montreal

  • Sehar is able to roll with the punches. During the pandemic, she has taught socially distanced in a park and on zoom. As a student, it's such a relief to have a teacher so passionate about improv, her students and creating an equitable improv environment. 100% recommend!

    Bill Yong, Drama Therapist, Montreal

  • Wow. Where do I start. Choosing to invest in Sehar’s classes was one of the best decisions I’ve made all year. I had a fear of doing camera talks on social media but this class gave me the push and confidence to do so. Not only am I more comfortable in my skin but with Sehar’s energy I felt so supported with every new technique we did. Thank you again!!!

    Hazel Antiporta, Healing Coach, Toronto

  • I was very fortunate to have the chance to take an improv class taught by Sehar. I wasn't new to improv, but I was new to the virtual delivery of an improv class. This class was by far the most enjoyable improv learning experience I've ever had. Sehar has a unique gift for fostering a learning environment that is safe and pushes you to stretch. She also has a knack for making improv approachable, transforming improv concepts into easily-understood and practical techniques. I look forward to taking another one of Sehar's classes in the future.

Kamara Toffolo, Job Search Strategist, Toronto

  • I wanted to join improv because of a general lack of confidence in my communication skills. I was too shy to say the words that I had on the tip of my tongue, too worried about what others would think, so I wouldn't say anything, and just be the quiet one in conversations.
Sehar really taught me to own my thoughts and have confidence in what I say. I feel way more confident in social situations, and in my ability to think on the spot and come up with interesting things to say.
As an instructor, I hope to see her again during my improv journey. She is really passionate about what she does and has a lot of knowledge that can truly help others.

Wesley Kelemen, Winter Summer Media, Montreal

  • Just wanted to say thank you for your helpful instruction, care, creativity, and sensitivity. I really enjoy your class, and I always replay the lesson in my head afterwards. I care an awful lot about becoming a better communicator, storyteller, and funny person. I lucked out big time landing in your class. Over the past few classes, I noticed exactly how talented and brilliant you are. The way you could effortlessly cook up the wildest (yet appropriate) concepts so quickly and make them make sense. You’ve done all that while being an attentive and skilled instructor. Improv is probably something that I’ll identify myself with for the rest of my life, and you’re one of the people who helped me get off on the right foot.

    Charles Lin, Boring+Ordinary, Montreal

  • I had never done anything like this before, and immediately felt safe to just experiment with this new experience in the virtual group. Sehar’s practical and warm presence made a safe container for everyone to try new things and have fun, while stepping out of our comfort zones. She has a lot of experience, could probably teach these classes in her sleep, and that alone was comforting to have a guide be there while discovering new things about yourself with public speaking. Sehar makes making mistakes and laughing at yourself enjoyable! I definitely feel more confident on video because of this class.

    Wynd Storm, Hawaii

  • Sehar was my instructor for Level One Improv. She goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone feels welcomed in a new environment and art. She instructs in a personable and relatable way. This helped me grasp and overcome hurdles so that I was not only learning a new skill but the skills within myself. She is attentive to her students, both their achievements and failures - both of which get celebrated.
She’s able to instruct students to find their uniqueness, bring it out and excel with it as a performer. Doing that brings a group of new students together with confidence - who then show their new skills - which is a great deal of fun to be a part of. Her passion makes any newbie eagerly excited about their starting journey in improv.

    Shab Namazi, Montreal

  • Sehar was my improv teacher and helped facilitate a safe learning environment for participants where vulnerability was welcomed. Sehar cares about her students and encourages them to ask questions, and make mistakes. Her humility and honesty allow for classes where folks feel free to creatively express themselves without the fear of judgment. I really enjoyed Sehar's compassionate teaching style as it helped me grow and take more risks as a performer. Her experience and talent as a performer/artist are evident in the energy and wealth of knowledge she brings to each class she teaches. I recommend her classes to anyone looking to grow as a performer/ artist!

    Erica Sweett, Drama Therapist, Montreal

  • I had Sehar as an improv comedy instructor, not knowing what to expect. Over the course of time seeing her perform and instruct, it’s clear to me that Sehar is exceptionally talented at both. In front of a camera and a crowd, she clearly shines with an air that makes one feel close to the action, and knows enough about it to teach newcomers about the different kinds of performances, concepts, and nuances of each.

“Exceptionally talented” and “fantastic teacher” is how I would best describe her, and would strongly recommend her as an instructor and as an actor.

    Ethan Fortier, Montreal

  • I took level 2 Improv with Sehar and really looked forward to my Saturday afternoons. She made classes fun, funny and challenging in the most easygoing ways. Sehar helped me build confidence, and build my self esteem at a time when it was desperately needed. She has an ability to generate fun improv games and translate those games into real life lessons. I love playing, connecting with others and learning something new about myself, and Sehar's classes have all of that. It was so clear that Sehar really enjoyed teaching as much as we loved learning from her. I’d take class with Sehar again in a heartbeat! Thank you for everything Sehar!

    Angie Tzouvelakos, Montreal

  • I had Sehar as my improv teacher for 2 levels and I have learned so much from her each time. Her lessons were well-organized and I really appreciated how Sehar tied each improv lesson to broader discussions about how one can show up in life. Her classes also had a good balance of making people feel comfortable to try out new things and nudging people to challenge themselves without compromising their feeling of safety. Having a good teacher, especially for beginners, sets the tone for one's experience with improv. With Sehar as my teacher, I've thankfully had an enjoyable improv experience and I'm inspired to continue learning more.

    Wendy Tay, Montreal

  • Sehar was a very patient and thoughtful instructor, and it's very clear how extremely passionate she is about Improv!! She did a phenomenal job of breaking down the fundamentals, making it easy for everyone to participate and really facilitating a space where people were comfortable doing things completely outside of their comfort zone. It's not an easy ask to get a room full of strangers to open up and unwind but she made it feel effortless and also extremely safe. 10/10 would let loose with her again.

    Mandeep Wraich, Toronto

  • Privileged enough to have Sehar as my Level 1, 2 & 3 improv teacher and none of the classes are the same. Of course, there are scenes that we need to revisit but each time is a new challenging experience. I like the fact that, the workshops are fun & interesting. Sehar always provide feedbacks after each scene and suggestions on how to improve. She creates a safe space where everyone is free to express themselves creatively.

    Lucci Ruiz, Montreal/Globetrotting

  • Sehar taught me my Level One Improv, which was my first improv class since high school (many years ago) and the first Zoom class I had ever done. It was great! Sehar made us feel like we were all important to the group and went out of her way to make sure we felt comfortable. She taught us the fundamentals of improv and how to use them in real-time. I would recommend Sehar’s class to anyone. Whether you already like improv or have never done it and are nervous about trying it for the first time, she will make it a fun and memorable experience. Thanks Sehar!

    Erik Young, Ottawa/Montreal

  • Had so much fun taking improv lessons with Sehar! She knows how to make the most of a class, efficiently combining different methods and games while creating a welcoming and fun atmosphere in which everyone feels they have a space to experiment their wildest ideas. She's a kind and generous artist who really knows how to share the stage in a way that brings out the best in everyone around. She's also just insanely funny and creative.

    Michal A., Opera Singer, Montreal

  • I joined the Improv Group not knowing what to expect and was lucky enough to have Sehar as a teacher. My life literally changed after the first class. It was much more than I had ever expected. Sehar made the classes fun and made everyone feel very comfortable and welcome. I learned so much from her and the group. Her style was very informative and fun. I would definitely recommend her as a teacher. I can't wait to take classes again. I only hope that she is available for the next level as I really loved her method, attention and ability to bring people together.

    Joanita K., Montreal

  • Sehar's improv coaching method is sensitive and structured. She keeps track of everyone's progress and gives honest individual feedback while still keeping the whole group engaged. She directs people towards more risky improv practises without pushing and leaves them a safe space for expression and creativity. Whether you take her class for improvisational or interpersonal skills improvement, you will graduate with tangible results.

    Mahsa Mofidpoor, Montreal

  • Having Sehar as an improv teacher was great - I appreciated her dedication to inclusivity, ensuring everyone felt welcome and safe to explore. She is real and authentic, and I appreciate that.

    Jocelynn Rodrigues, Calgary

  • Sehar provided me the environment I needed to feel at ease screwing up and making a fool of myself. She was kind, witty and flexible to our peculiarities. Couldn't have asked for anyone better to help me to let go. 10/10, would improv again.

    Jules Simard, Montreal

  • You are friendly, supportive, encouraging. You have an approachable style as you use real-world examples to explain concepts. Plus you were having as much fun as the rest of us.

    Daniel Beitchman, Toronto

  • Sehar is an amazing teacher who is super fun and inclusive. She was the first person that I took improv classes with after almost 10 years of not doing improv. Now I take classes on a regular basis, thanks in large part to the experiences I had with Sehar as a teacher.

    Emily Speur, Montreal

  • Sehar's Level 2 class instructions were very constructive. Her choice of exercises and encouragement helped me get out of my shell. I started having more fun and being bolder and less fearful in applying my new skills on stage. Sehar's class sustained that initial curiosity to try out improv, and I continue to learn and practice more since then!

    Meena V., Montreal

  • Sehar is an excellent improv teacher! She showed me that Improv is about more than just spontaneous acting; it’s also a great way to improv social skills, and there are a lot of practical things to take away from it. When I began as an improviser, I was quite shy and only saw improv as an opportunity to dip my toes into acting. Now, after nearly a year of doing improv with Sehar, I walk away a lot more confident not only in improv but also in my social life. Improv has helped me overcome a lot of social anxiety, and I would recommend Sehar as a teacher to anyone interested in improvisation or simply improving their social skills!

    Gabriel Desjardins, Montreal

  • Sehar is an excellent teacher! During our classes, she created a supportive environment and encouraged us to take risks and step out of our comfort zones. It was because of her feedback and encouragement that I truly fell in love with improv.

    Mayeda Quadir, Toronto

  • Sehar, you are confident in delivering your messages in class, quick to give feedback to students and charismatic to lead the group.Yet, you were down to earth with your thought and opinion. I am proud to have learnt the foundation of improv comedy from you.

    Sae-Jong Moon, Montreal/Korea

  • I’ve come to know Sehar Manji as a knowledgeable and patient instructor as well as a gifted performer. Her insights and guidance encouraged me to be more confident, both on stage and off. Most importantly, Sehar instilled in me and my fellow students a great love for improv that far outlasted the classes we took together.

    Alexandra Jurecko, Montreal

  • Sehar is an amazing instructor who made sure a first-timer like me at Improv felt comfortable to put yourself out there. Classes with her were always fun-filled, lots of learning, and more importantly memorable. She gave us encouragement, individual attention, and constructive feedback to help us improvise. Highly recommend her!

    Jignesh Mehta, Montreal

  • I always felt comfortable and in the best hands in Sehar's class. She's friendly, professional, and deeply devoted to what she does. She was always able to give each person individual attention, helping us all bring out our inner performer. Not only that, her classes are just plain fun! It's all about play, and we all need a little more playtime in our lives. After taking more than one improv class with her in the past, I wouldn't hesitate to work with her again in the future!

    Erika Dyer, Montreal

  • Sehar is a compassionate and personable teacher. She has a great range and is able to lay fundamentals in class off stage and show off some great performances on stage. I can confidently acredit her with really sparking my love for improv during one of our beginner classes.

    Will Spier, Montreal

  • Sehar was an engaging and energetic instructor in my advanced improv class. She prepared and delivered exercises that were well-structured and helped me improve my skills in listening, reacting, and game-of-the-scene. She provided helpful feedback to all class participants, and I learned from her notes to me as well as others. I would recommend Sehar as an instructor for improv at any level.

    E., Montreal

  • Sehar has been my very first improv teacher when I didn't know much about it. I felt her strength was to adapt to anyone's needs so she could help us better and she did. Every Saturday, she was as motivated and enthusiastic as the last and not even a day learning with her seemed dull or boring!! Simply put I had a great time working with her!

    Grace-Kelly N, Montreal

  • Sehar is one of the best improv teachers I've ever got. She listens and knows how to get you to the core of the craft. I also felt in a safe space around her. I wasn't afraid to ask questions or to fail because I knew she was not judging any of us. She is just a simple and wonderful being.

    Joey MacIntosh, Montreal

  • Sehar is a terrific improv teacher who will encourage you to go out of your comfort zone and take risks. It was such a pleasure to have her as a level one coach!

    Gil Dodick, Toronto

  • An incredibly proficient and student oriented teacher of the craft of Improvisation. Truly deserving of a bushel of apples.

    Corey Toohey, Montreal

  • Sehar is a fantastic teacher! Her whole personality is "yes and": supportive, encouraging, and creative. I looked forward to her Intro to Improv class every week!

    Julia Kalinina, Toronto

  • Sehar makes improv fun! She loves and enjoys it. That's why it's great to learn from her, because she has tremendous fun experiencing our performances and growth. At the same time, she isn't afraid to be blunt and will tell you what you need to hear to improve. But at the end of the day, her lighthearted approach inspires me to approach improv with more joy and freedom, and that keeps me coming back.

    Angelo Pengue, Montreal

  • I had Sehar as my teacher for Improv 2 and 4 classes. She was excellent and I learned a great deal from her. She changed some of my views on what improv should be like. I saw a few of her shows and I really enjoyed them.

    Zhe Yan, Montreal

  • I got Sehar as a teacher and I have to say that improv feels much more effortless since. I like how she’s working from a perspective where you already have it in you. Her style of teaching gave me great confidence in my performing abilities. Refreshing eyes was all I needed.

    Felix Huard, Montreal

  • I took couple of levels of lessons at Montreal Improv under Sehar. She is an awesome instructor who creates the perfect safe space for both newcomers and those with previous improv experiences alike to come out of their shell and learn how to do improv. She is a talented performer herself and good at nurturing and encouraging her students to bring the best out of them. She’s observant and provides clear feedback but in a way that makes everyone feel included and encouraged to grow. I really enjoyed all my lessons with Sehar and I hope in the not so distant future (post COVID-19) I would love to continue my level 3 lessons with her. If you are new to improv or just want to try out something new, I strongly recommend signing up for an introductory improv lesson with Sehar!

    Bhaskar Mitra, Montreal

  • I jokingly tell people that Sehar Manji cured my fear of improv. Truthfully Improv has never been my strength and my early experiences with improv workshops were not positive. My best friend really wanted to take improv classes together so I decided to give it another chance. We were lucky enough to have Sehar as our teacher and it completely changed my relationship to improv. Sehar tailors her classes to each group of students and is diligent about maintaining a safe space in class. I 100% recommend taking classes with Sehar if you are looking to improve your improv skills or simply to have a better, more holistic understanding of storytelling and human communication. She’s also very entertaining as a performer, so do yourself a favor and catch one of her shows!

    Amber Jackson, Vancouver

  • I took a beginner's improv class with Sehar through Bad Dog Comedy Theatre. I had a spectacular time. I thought it could be awkward but Sehar was great at making everyone comfortable and in the end, it felt like we all knew each other for a long time. It was clear that improv was her forté We learned various techniques. Even though the class was online it was highly interactive and well-managed. Each person had their time to shine. She also took the time to ensure that we were conscious of potential triggers and how to deal with sensitive topics which was great. I highly recommend taking her class and I'll surely be returning in the future. It was an experience that I'm very glad to have had and was definitely something I looked forward to especially during the quarantine. 6 weeks went by quickly.

    Nicole Crawford, Toronto

  • I am so grateful to have Sehar as my first improv teacher because she is wonderful! She is full of ideas, she radiates a beautiful positive energy and her class notes are so meaningful! It has been fun getting to know her and her projects.

    Mélanie McCrae, Montreal

  • Sehar works to make her classes a safe space where learning can happen. She is a teacher who can approach even the most delicate and sensitive topics with humor, grace, and compassion. Her insightful feedback makes learning from her easy, all in all 10/10.

    Charles Grey, Montreal

  • Sehar’s improv class is laid-back and low-pressure, which is perfect for me who’s never seen improv performed before and has no clue what I’m supposed to be doing. If you like to laugh, make others laugh, be laughed at (and laughed with), then an improv class might be for you. Sehar will make you feel not only comfortable in playing, but bring it out in such an ingenious way, you’ll be laughing a lot.

    Karen Kartika, Los Angeles

  • Sehar was a wonderful instructor! It was incredible how she was able to create a safe atmosphere where a group of 12 people who were complete strangers felt comfortable expressing their creativity together. I felt encouraged, supported and any feedback was very constructive. I will be continuing to learn my craft in a huge part thanks to the guidance I received.

    Jayson Sharda, Montreal

  • As someone nervously approaching Improv for the first time, I valued the safe space that Sehar created from the get-go. She ensured that the learning was always organic and grounded in enjoyment itself, by equipping the class with the foundational building blocks, but leaving plenty of room for self-experimentation. No wonder we all immediately signed up for Level II.

    K., Montreal

  • Sehar inspired me to take learn improv when she gave a beginners' workshop and shared how improv has positively impacted her life.
I had the pleasure to have her as my teacher again for a level 2 class. She’s authentic, funny and a fast thinker. Her teaching style is to experience concepts firsthand instead of simply explaining them which is super valuable! Her classes are guaranteed fun times!

    Anna Zisa, Montreal

  • I took level 2 improv from Sehar and really enjoyed the pacing that keeps the energy high, direct actionable feedback during the classes and having an open dialogue after the exercises. I’m looking forward to taking other levels from her as well!

    Ali Inay, Montreal

  • Sehar not only taught me improv .. she taught me that it’s ok to fail .. not only on stage but in life . Her teaching method instills confidence and learning that it’s also ok for it to NOT be “funny “ .. as such for life in general it’s ok NOT to be perfect. Seems like a simple lesson but it’s really not... I came out of my shell and was able to let go in a scene. Appreciate the little “gifts“ and accept the offer !! All things I try apply into my life.. I leant so much and had So many laughs thanks to Sehar !! ❤️❤️❤️

    Stacey Zerdok, Montreal

  • The improv II was so far my best experience among courses in Montreal Improv. The best part was not necessarily sticking to planned material but changing it based on the questions and asks of the participants. The exercises were interesting, the feedback during stage work was helpful, and the discussion on how to deal with uncomfortable subjects in comedy felt smooth and natural. Highly recommended!

    Shivam Arora, Montreal

  • I attended Sehar's "Improv introduction class" to help me improve my directing skills. Having no acting experience, I was nervous going in. Yet, from the very beginning, Sehar knew how to make us all so comfortable. Then, the way she structured her class was so well thought out : she kept our interest and was able to level up from one exercise to another smoothly. They were original exercises and we were able to comprehend what to learn out of them easily: Nothing was too obscure or too crazy for no reason, making it easier to trust her and dive in. It's mainly her great ability to lead the class that makes me want to recommend it : you are in good hands. Very professional, very experienced, you can tell. Whatever you're looking for, pretty sure she can deliver it and it will be worth your money!

    Mayssoun Tadlaoui, Montreal

  • Wow! Sehar's Level 1 Improv class was a blast!
I was new to improv, but Sehar made learning fun and easy. She ensured it was a journey filled with creativity, intelligence, and endless amusement. Our brains were challenged in a fun way, for example: I looooved the rapping session even if I failed miserably!😁 She created a safe space where we CAN make mistakes and we celebrate when we are vibing at the same rhythm!
Sehar's creativity shined in every lesson which makes each session unpredictable - like linking spatula use to social media fame, hilarious and brilliant!😂 - How did she come up with that? Hahah
Sehar, if you're reading this : Thank you for these exercises and for sharing your passion for improv, it's certainly contagious! <3

    Romina R. Landaure, Montreal

  • Sehar is a wonderful and supportive instructor. Her classes are fun while also being challenging. I'm a professional dance-theater artist, but was relatively new to improv, so I started with The First Step course through Improv. MTL in the summer of 2020, and was lucky to discover that Sehar was facilitating the course. I highly recommend working with Sehar who holds space in a way that makes all participants feel safe, comfortable and at ease in the process of learning skills such as: how to listen, how to source creative lines/conversations, body language, loosening-up skills, vocal dynamics, pacing/pausing, etc. Whether you're a beginner, or an experienced improviser, Sehar will bring a fresh and creative perspective from which to source material, and/or question habits. Sehar is patient, funny, and is always ready to offer up creative insights to help us get out of our heads and into the moment. Studying improv with Sehar has helped my performance skills in all areas of my life!

    Danielle Davidson, Montreal

  • Sehar is a brilliant facilitator - always ensuring the psychological comfort of her students, providing excellent feedback, and connecting the learning from Improv beyond the stage: she taught me that Improv is not just a hobby or profession but a life philosophy. I was very anxious going into Improv but her classes made it easy for everyone---regardless of their prior experience---to perform on stage and be themselves! Her classes have enriched many aspects of my life. Bravo!

    Jeffrey To, Montreal

  • As someone who's always felt intimidated having a group's attention turned to me, starting improv was a tad nerve-wracking but after the first hour, all those fears disappeared. Sehar ease of instruction and comfort with the material quickly eliminated any tensions we had as a group. With a calm demeanor and casual tone she introduced dozens of exercises which felt more like games than anything else. Sehar's classes were a chance to freely explore the art of improv with the same sense of safety and trust you might feel while hanging out with friends.

    Charlotte Haras, Montreal

  • Sehar's classes are fun, informative and full of action.
Her teaching style is a mix of instructions and real time improvisations which helps put the concepts into perspective.
Also, Sehar focuses on character development and making sure that as students we are always thinking about the environment and our relation to it, which helps making the improvisation flow naturally without any stress.
Overall, Sehar's classes are influential and bring a lot of value not only at the improv level but also at the personal level.

    Waseem Fadel, Montreal

It has been a pleasure to work with her and experience the growth she brought to my communication skills. I wish her all success in her professional future.

  • Sehar is funny, patient, and massively insightful. Her classes put us through our paces, all while keeping things light and fun. We gained the confidence both to make bolder choices and to stay playful doing so. I believe we all came out of these classes feeling more at ease with improv and with stage performance in general.

  • I loved your classes because you made it not scary. The exercises were each relevant and build towards performance on stage. Maybe it was because I felt warmed up?

What I like the most is that every time there was an opportunity for you to share any tips or tricks you would do it! Every time there was a new concept being taught, you filled the void in my understanding. I could not help but bring out my phone and take notes every time there was a discussion, reflection or observation. The informations shared were relevant, valuable and meaningful.

  • Sehar was my first instructor in Improv, something I was very new to. Sehar explained improv concepts with clarity, and her classes made for a welcoming environment where we could freely express our ideas and intentions. Also her feedback for our short form exercises struck a fine balance between constructive criticism while not imposing her personal style upon students. The net result was a series of sessions that felt exploratory with a subtle guiding force, the perfect environment as new learners. Insecurity was one of my main worries heading into Improv, but Sehar created a space where we could all express ourselves without judgement.

  • I've had Sehar as my improv teacher for the past few weeks and I must that every classes were a blast. I felt like her insights about improv, the well-chosen exercises and her experience allowed me to grow as an improviser.

Improv naturally leads to situations imbued with sillyness yet at no point in time did I feel excluded or embarrassed during class. On the contrary, I've had a great time that I was looking forward to every week. I believe this sentiment was shared by my classmates too.

If you get Sehar as your improv teacher, just enjoy. You won't be disappointed!

  • I really enjoyed the Level One improv course taught by Sehar. She was intuitive and insightful in guiding us through the exercises, very fair in her feedback, and was able to create a relaxed atmosphere where we were willing to experiment and leave our comfort zones.

  • I had the pleasure of taking Sehar's Level I improv class at Montreal Improv Theatre for six weeks in January 2024. Sehar made my intro to improv a wonderful experience. I love her gentle and encouraging teaching style. She made it so fun to play with other people in the class and definitely motivated me to continue taking improv classes. I'd highly recommend her classes to anyone starting out on their improv journey!

  • Sehar is truly a gem to work with; she is warm, nurturing, funny as hell, smart as a whip and knows her craft. I learned so much from taking her Level 1 Improv Class, and hoping to take it again! And honestly? When it was over, the class was sad. That speaks volumes about Sehar's teaching style and her as a human being.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed Sehar's Level 1 class. It was a great introduction to improv in general. I found particularly useful learning our own natural energies and emotions, and what that looks like, then a fun environment to explore and experiment to see more of our potential. Looking forward to continuing with the next class!

  • If you can envision trusting someone enough to venture yourself in an experience that is both stressful and enriching, then you’re in level 1 improv class and Sehar is your teacher! She was simply amazing at creating a safe yet challenging environment that put us in an ideal learning mindset. A mindset that allowed us to be open to her deep knowledge of improv and benefit from her ability to talk to a novice crowd. I hope to have Sehar again as a teacher.

  • Sehar knows what is funny, knows why it’s funny and knows how to make it even funnier. Working with her is always a pleasure and a great opportunity.

  • I took the first 3 improv levels with Sehar and it was definitely a great experience. I had a blast each class because the exercises were fun and dynamic. She is very enthusiastic and passionate about her work and she always provided useful feedback and suggestions for improvement. I definitely recommend her as a teacher for any person who wants to learn improv.

  • I was lucky to have Sehar as my first improv teacher. My anxiety around performing in front of total strangers quickly disappeared as Sehar created an environment that felt safe enough to fully embrace the absurdity of improv and learn more than I had expected in a short time. Her ability to break down the how’s and why’s of human interaction and relationships has helped me become a more confident person not only as a performer but also in my daily life.

  • I took a beginner’s improv class with Sehar. Her classes were fun and dynamic, and every week, she supported us with her creativity, attention to detail, and wealth of experience. It was a pleasure to learn from such a brilliant performer and skilled facilitator!

  • I'm delighted to share my thoughts on Sehar, my improv teacher at Montreal Improv. She is fantastic at teaching improv skills and goes further by explaining their real-life significance. What I appreciate most is her thoughtful approach. She connects improv lessons to everyday experiences, helping us understand ourselves and the world better, with a new lens. Sehar brought a unique perspective, making our learning experience rich and meaningful. Fun facts! She thinks she talks much, but in fact, she has many great thoughts to share!

  • Taking Improv 2 with Sehar Manji was insightful. One exercise that resonated deeply with me involved scanning our bodies while projecting our emotions in response to the world around us. Sehar's thoughtful approach to guiding us through this exercise illuminated the intricate connection between physicality and emotion in improvisation, providing valuable insights that I continue to apply in my practice.. Sehar's guidance on emotional tonality was particularly helpful.

The class atmosphere was warm and funny, yet focused. Sehar created a safe space for creativity without sacrificing comedic exploration. I'd recommend her classes to anyone seeking growth in improvisation and emotional expression.
