IMPROV
In 2016, Sehar completed her teacher-training and began teaching classes and coaching at Montreal Improv. When the pandemic hit, she pivoted to physically-distanced outdoor classes until Montreal Improv’s official closure in July 2020.
She also started teaching Advanced Longform and Beginner levels online with Bad Dog Theatre in Toronto. When Montreal Improv reopened in 2021, Sehar resumed Zoom classes, and also coached the online house team, Lampshade Renegade (Jan 2021-Dec 2021), which included members from Montreal and Toronto. She also co-coached the in-person House Team (with Vance Gillis), Janet (Sept 2021-March 2022).
Currently, Sehar teaches classes with Montreal Improv, and independently coaches teams and offers workshops (group and corporate).

TESTIMONIALS
What people are saying
As a professional facilitator and university instructor, I've spent a LOT of time in classrooms, workshops and training sessions. So my bar of what qualifies as a "good" instructor is set pretty high. From the first class, Sehar sailed right over my bar and proved herself to be an excellent instructor. I appreciated how she skillfully balanced welcoming and accepting each student's comfort level and experience with developing exercises that gently, but firmly pushed us towards an increased understanding and capacity for improvisation.

I’ve worked with Sehar many times as a co-creator and performer and I can say without exaggeration that they have been some of the most enjoyable, hilarious and professionally fulfilling experiences of my career.
Sehar approaches collaborative work with a glorious combination of confidence, professionalism, creativity and camaraderie. She is weird, original, brilliant, seasoned and innovative. It’s a rare gift in this profession have fun and get work done at the same time, but somehow Sehar manages to make it happen.
Sehar is an incredibly multifaceted performer and writer whose ability to wear so many hats is a testament to her many years of experience as an improviser. She brings her unique and vibrant energy to roles big and small, scripted or on the fly.
In case I haven’t made it clear, I fucking love working with Sehar. You will, too!

Sehar is an excellent improv teacher who seamlessly weaves the threads of creativity, laughter, and inclusivity into every lesson. She fosters a laid-back environment where every individual, regardless of their background or experience, feels valued, respected, and empowered. Whether you're a seasoned performer or stepping onto an improv class for the first time, Sehar will undoubtedly give you tips and tricks to improve your confidence and drop your shyness, all while laughing and connecting with others. It's lots of fun!

Just wanted to say thank you for your helpful instruction, care, creativity, and sensitivity. I really enjoy your class, and I always replay the lesson in my head afterwards. I care an awful lot about becoming a better communicator, storyteller, and funny person. I lucked out big time landing in your class. Over the past few classes, I noticed exactly how talented and brilliant you are. The way you could effortlessly cook up the wildest (yet appropriate) concepts so quickly and make them make sense. You’ve done all that while being an attentive and skilled instructor. Improv is probably something that I’ll identify myself with for the rest of my life, and you’re one of the people who helped me get off on the right foot.

Sehar gets it. Not only does she have that perfect timing, stage presence, and infectious energy, she also manages to improve the performances of whoever she's sharing the stage with. You learn a lot from watching her perform because she can always tap right into those hilarious or tragic truths of human nature and she never misses a beat. She clearly belongs on the stage as much as her students might miss her.

Sehar Manji has razor sharp instincts and mad skills as an instructor. She thoughtfully focuses and pushes her students to improve with concrete tools, while also instilling in them the confidence to trust themselves and their instincts. She builds a dedicated and inclusive community in her classes. During my time working with Sehar, I learned many concepts, and was able to put into practise these new skills in concentrated doses and meaningful classwork. It felt like every minute was focused with valuable learning and personal growth in developing my improv skills. Thanks Sehar!

Sehar's class feels like a bootcamp where the drill sergeant can only make you giggle instead of doing pushups.

Sehar is an insightful, talented actor-improviser. What is unique about Sehar is her sensitivity and ability to guide her students in accessing and expressing their true feelings. For example, as improv coach, she led us through self-awareness exercises, tapping into our individual emotions. These exercises helped develop organic expression which is key when creating those great improv scenes!

Wow. Where do I start. Choosing to invest in Sehar’s classes was one of the best decisions I’ve made all year. I had a fear of doing camera talks on social media but this class gave me the push and confidence to do so. Not only am I more comfortable in my skin but with Sehar’s energy I felt so supported with every new technique we did. Thank you again!!!

I was very fortunate to have the chance to take an improv class taught by Sehar. I wasn't new to improv, but I was new to the virtual delivery of an improv class. This class was by far the most enjoyable improv learning experience I've ever had. Sehar has a unique gift for fostering a learning environment that is safe and pushes you to stretch. She also has a knack for making improv approachable, transforming improv concepts into easily-understood and practical techniques. I look forward to taking another one of Sehar's classes in the future.

Sehar inspired me to take learn improv when she gave a beginners' workshop and shared how improv has positively impacted her life.
I had the pleasure to have her as my teacher again for a level 2 class. She’s authentic, funny and a fast thinker. Her teaching style is to experience concepts firsthand instead of simply explaining them which is super valuable! Her classes are guaranteed fun times!

Had so much fun taking improv lessons with Sehar! She knows how to make the most of a class, efficiently combining different methods and games while creating a welcoming and fun atmosphere in which everyone feels they have a space to experiment their wildest ideas. She's a kind and generous artist who really knows how to share the stage in a way that brings out the best in everyone around. She's also just insanely funny and creative.
